WESTON-SUPER-MARE HELPS NORTH SOMERSET SPORTS ACADEMY REACH MORE YOUNGSTERS
A CCR dealership in north Somerset has lent a sports academy a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) so that staff can reach more youngsters and introduce them to healthy living.
Weston College Academy of Sport will use the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, lent by CCR Weston-Super-Mare, over the next six months to travel to schools across the north of the county in a bid to get children interested in a variety of sports.
Sports teams at the college, in Knightstone Road, Weston-super-Mare, will also use the vehicle to travel to competitions because the college minibus isn’t big enough to accommodate a whole team.
Rebecca Ranson, the college’s Curriculum Manager for Sport and Public Services, said: ‘We are extremely grateful to CCR for lending us this vehicle. It means that we can now access far more individuals in the north Somerset area, which will result in a fitter population. Without the Outlander PHEV we couldn’t get out to meet as many young people and introduce them to different sports, so this is great.’
Rob Davis, Mitsubishi Sales Manager at CCR Weston-super-Mare , in Aisecome Way, said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to help the college. The Outlander PHEV is the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid, with a 32-mile pure-electric range that easily accommodates average daily driving distances. A fuel economy of 156mpg means the college will save money, while the CO2 emissions of just 42g/km mean it is better for the environment.’
Paul Taylor, Sports Development and Performance Manager at the college, added: ‘It’s important for us that the vehicle is environmentally friendly. As a college we are very conscious of the environment so this is all about healthy living with sport and transport.’
